Emotion: a subjective, conscious experience characterized primarily by psycho-physiological expressions, biological reactions, and mental states. Thinking: to have a conscious mind, to some extent of reasoning, remembering experiences, making rational decisions, etc. Critical Thinking:?Both thinking and critical thinking are mental processes.?Thinking can be classified as an action while critical thinking can be said to be a skill.?Critical thinking is used with caution while thinking can be spontaneous.?A critical thinker is able to identify the main contention in an issue, look for evidence that supports or opposes that contention, and assess the strength of the reasoning while a thinker may solely base his belief on faith or personal opinion. Often times “Feelings” are involved, and inhibit rational thought. A critical thinker will control those feelings, and come to more objective conclusions. Not all Humans have that capability.

The ?Feelings? of Fear, Hunger, and Reproductive Desires are all original evolutionary components of human survival. Rational thought was NOT one of them. The human brain has added additional layers of complexity throughout time, with the possibility of rational cognitive thought WITHOUT the influence of emotion. Where are YOU and YOUR ANCESTORS along that evolutionary plane? Do you control your emotions when you make decisions throughout your life, or do you just ?Feel? your way through it? Who are you hurting in that process, and what possible chaos are you creating in the lives of other human beings around you?

“Feelings” by Louis Gaste and Morris Albert (1974)

Lyrics:

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love.

Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms.

Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
and feelings like I’ve never have you again in my heart.

Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again.

Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
and feelings like I’ve never have you again in my life.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms.
Feelings?(repeat & fade)
